    Pastel Express 12....STOOPID SOFTWARE

There is nothing worse than software that is just plain doff. So the wife is forced to upgrade to version 12. Install Pastel..no problem.

Now we need to install the database:
    Click install Pervasive Workgroup....
    Chug chug chug...
Now it says "Insert Disk 1"
...are you drunk or stoopid...there is just one DVD and it is in the drive....and you are already reading from it....
...ok, stick the DVD in the other drive....
    chug chug chuggg....
...again it says "Insert Disk 1"

Now if it wasn't for the fact that the stoopid thing had already buggered up the previous version then the whole lot would go in the bin....eish, don't the people who write the software actually use it themselves....

Tomorrow is another day, the wife can go forth and do battle with the support department in the morning!

Hi Adrianh - support dept is probably the best way to go - they are generally very helpful. What I do know is that you have to remove the previous version of Pervasive COMPLETELY before you can install the newer one. It should have come with instructions on how to do that.

Yeah, I'll give them a try this morning. It's just damn annoying because now neither the old nor the new versions word....

Insert Disk 1 ...do they think we're still installing from 10 floppy disks?

Hi Adrian, if you don't come right after calling support, let me know and we can arrange a TeamViewer session.

I am going out for a hike this morning, but I will be available this afternoon.

Thanks Neville. It is probably just something silly. I'll let you know how it pans out one way or another.

We got it sorted. I uninstalled Pervasive and the re-installed it directly from the DVD directory. I think that the installation front end must have some issue.

The wife spoke with Pastel and they assisted her with the data conversion. Its working perfectly now.
