It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change. – Charles Darwin
If you really want to keep going with the scenic route, rather than taking the run via Bloem, Winburg, Bethlehem for the Colesberg to Durban leg, the route via Smithfield, Lady Brand, Ficksburg, Clarens and Golden Gate is simply stunning. It'll be a long day doing it without a stop-over though (an overnight at Clarens or in the Golden Gate Reserve perhaps?)
Participation is voluntary.

Time to stop over at Addo Elephant Park? Plett and Nature's Valley has its own attractions. Knysna is a must, maybe the Heads and some of the lakes. (You may decide to sleep over on a boat)
Victoria Bay is a must and try to fit in the Cango Caves near Oudtshoorn. You may not have time for the Swartberg Pass and Meiringspoort, but travel between the mountains from Oudtshoorn via Calitzdorp and the R62 to Barrydale and then via Robertson (wine & fruit country) Worcester and Paarl to Cape Town. Don't take the toll road through the tunnel, but take the old road to see the view from the top of Du Toit's Kloof.
Paarl has some of the oldest buildings in the country and lots to see and experience. Also Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. A trip to Tulbagh will take you back at least 100 years.
In Cape Town; Signal Hill or Camps Bay is where you watch the most amazing sunsets. In Camps bay you can sit at one of the restaurants on the strip (Parana, Blue or ZenZero) or take a picnic basket to Signal Hill. Table mountain, Kirstenbosch, Constantia Hout Bay and all the usual, or take a day trip to Hermanus via Gordon's Bay, the R44/Clarence Drive (just as scenic as Chapman's Peak) Pringle Bay & Kleinmond. Return to Cape Town via Villiersdorp & Franschhoek Pass. Visit the car museum at L'ORmarins and enjoy a Pinotage burger at Beyerskloof.
There is so much to do and to see, I don't know where to send you next.
Excellence is not a skill; its an attitude...
