    WCC returns for this year...

Does anyone know how this process will work this year? Are the RoE still due on 31 March. Do we just log on to the website & submit?

You're getting in early - February isn't even done and dusted yet

Oh I do hope so. That was a breeze.

For one of my companies WCC hadn't been assessed yet for the previous year, so I ended up submitting the 2012 return by snail mail rather than going the online route. They still haven't got around to processing that one yet

    Hi Dave,
You should actually scan & email that return ... then you wait 1 hour.. .phone them so that they can get the email and allocate it to the correct department. Then they should assess it and email you the assessment. this is the way they roll...w.r.t. emails. The trick is... you must phone them after 1 hour so that they can check the email and allocate it. If you merely just email, nobody takes responsibility.....

Seems nothing happens there without you having to chase them

Seriously, thinking back on it, the only reason I've ever been assessed in recent years is when I've wanted a letter of good standing.
And of course sending the request alone gets ignored - you have to phone and follow up. And only from there does anything get done.

Last year's online return and assessment process for my other entities is probably the only thing I can recall that's happened "automatically as it should" in the past few years.

I received this from a consultant recently:

“Letters of good standing will be issued only to employers who meet the following criteria:
    1. Employer must be registered with the Fund as per section 80 of the COID Act,
    2. Employer must have submitted all returns of earnings online as per section 82 0f the COID Act,
    3. Employer must be fully assessed as per section 83 of the COID Act,
    4. Employer must have paid/ settled all outstanding debt as per section 86 of the COID Act.
Employers that have not yet been assessed by the Compensation Fund will first be assessed, up to the current assessment year, and are expected to pay all assessments in order to meet the criteria set out above.

Letters of good standing will also be issued on a month-to-month basis to employers that have entered into an instalment arrangement.

The letter of good standing shall be issued within five (5) working days of receipt of a valid application.”

Employers still have the option to either submit by hand/post or electronically, but as Clive stated above, if you require a Letter of Good Standing ( LOGS ), all assessments needs to be in, assessed and paid. Or arrangements made for the payment thereof.

    Christel,

When you mention "... log on to the website and submit.." I gather that you are already registered as a user?

Ok - it should be fine then. The volume on the website would of course increase as the date of submission draws nearer...
