Why You Won't Be My Next SEO Client

A bit of a self-punt here, which might need to be moved to the Member Ads section, but I believe it relates to many of the members here.

The link below will take you to my most recent blog post, entitled Why You Won't Be My Next SEO Client. In the article, I highlight some of the misconceptions that website owners (particularly South African ones) have regarding online marketing. I also attempt to subtly convey the reasoning behind why a good SEO provider's fee might be far higher than you expect, and far higher than the fees of those "online marketing agencies" from India's fees.

I look forward to, and appreciate, any feedback you guys might have regarding the article.

I'm also available to answer any general questions related to an SEO service that you may have.

    Hi Ian,

Interesting, I haven't actually looked at that for a while. It's a lot better than it was before.

Just at first glance, I think it does provide some great insight to your business. It doesn't provide much that you shouldn't already know, besides some interesting stats about how often you blog, tweet, etc. It is useful to give yourself some actionable goals for your website, though, and I would say that it's guidance is generally of the right sort.

One thing to bear in mind, however, is that Hubspot is just using it to get your email address. Once they have it, they WILL spam you. To be honest, I've never really liked Hubspot. I feel like they're way overpriced and a little pushy when it comes to their online marketing. They are obviously very good at what they do, though, which is why they are so successful.

I got 85 on the grader, quite chuffed because with our current plan that should be in the 90s in the not too distant future.

Mark I always use my gmail address as they handle spam well. I got a 72 for my website and I need to blog more.
One thing I noticed when someone ordered a PI box from us he setup an email address on gmail just for us, it had paperkutz in the name so some guys are paranoid about spam.
