Expat tax help
All,
I need a bit of advice re expat tax.
I live in the UK, but carry on a (albeit very small) trade in SA. On the ITR12 there is an option to declare foreign income. When selected it gives options to declare foreign business profit etc, not salaried (which I am) and a line for foreign tax credits. (Which I assume would be taxes paid abroad)
As far as I am concerned foreign income should not be subject to tax as I qualify under the non-resident rules.
Do I simply ignore the foreign income and tax and declare local income and taxes only (rental and some fees form services I perform online), or do I include income and add a deduction (full amount) in the foreign tax credit box?
TIA
