Don't want to be morbid, but A 20yr old female, making door-to-door sales in South Africa... I'd be more likely to think that she has met with trouble, for her sake I hope I'm wrong and she has just become phased by the prospect of commitment...

It was a great story. Pity it didn't go according to script.
I know a guy who used to do these door-to-door sales of imported Chinese products. You know, the usual stuff: foot spas, knife sets, motorised can openers etc. He would drive to towns all across the country when they had festivals to sell his products to the crowds.
It was tough going but he managed quite well for 7 years doing this. These days he's the national sales manager for a very big South African company. He doesn't have any degrees or diplomas; just real-life, in-the-trenches sales training.
My point? Hopefully something like this happened to adrianh's young sales lady-to-never-be. Being able to sell is a brilliant skill to have.
