Zimbabwean Employee - UIF and Easyfile

    Hi,

I have a client that has an Zimbabwean employee working for them. He does not have a South African ID, only a passport and Zimbabwean Identity doc.

His income is below the minimum for tax, so he only pays UIF.

    My questions are as follows:

    - Should he be contributing to UIF at all?

    - What type of documentation should the client obtain from him?

    - How do I treat him for Easyfile purposes as he has been paying UIF and I would need to create an IT3a?

    THANKS!

Dealing with this on Easyfile isn't a problem at all. Just select natural person without an SA ID and use the Zimbabwean passport number.

The problem is with UIF, and it's a fairly recent one. Read from post 2 here. At the time I said there wasn't a problem registering a foreigner on uFiling, but I have noticed this has changed since as uFiling only allows you to add an employee by giving the SA ID number of late.

UIF and foreigners is currently a problem.
They are happy to take the contribution but the foreigner will not be able to claim their UIF without an ID.
This is causing a problem. The dept of education is now "Firing" foreigners from teaching posts if they do not have ID's
In most instances the lack of IDs is due to the departments own problem.
Some people do not deduct the UIF contribution from foreigners.

The teachers issue and foreigner IDs will come before etch court soon by seeking a declarator.
