    Perform try a reverse auction, tell the customer you spent x hours travelling, y hours on the site and Rw on parts. Then ask if he can pay you what he thinks it is worth to him. If it is a good reward keep him as a client. If it is worse than you expected tell thanks for the money but don't call again as you have been underpaid.
    Only stress when you can change the outcome!

    You are in business to make money, if what a client wants to pay doesn't make you money, or offer a fair wage, then do you want him as a client?

    What i think is your call-out fee should be the minimum you would charge for your time. If it turns into a job, then just bill for time/parts for the job done.
