Today Hugh Bladen used an old South African word for "fight" or "brawl" when commentating on the Griquas/Western Province match.
I haven't heard it for years but it was very popular when I was still at school. It got me to wondering how it is spelled.

Thanks Adrian - didn't think it would be that particular "wrought" as I have always interpreted that as "worked" rather than "hammered". Used as a noun seems a bit strange ... but I suppose that slang has no grammatical rules.

In Cape Town the coloureds use the word 'duidelik' in a very strange way. Instead of using it as one would use the word 'clearly', they use it as one would use the word 'cool'
Naai broer, daaj Korolla is mos 'duidelik'
So yes, slang follows no rules....
