    IRP 5 correction

My Employee made (a rather large) error on my IRP5 they left a digit out for PAYE - IE instead of my PAYE figure saying 9999.99 it says 999.99 - dont know how this wasnt picked up during their recon?
They have now corrected it - but it has not reflected on my income tax return yet - do I have to wait for it to reflect - Ie when it is corrected after refreshing IRP5 data on efiling or can I change the figure on efiling myself?

    Hi there,
I would suggest you change the figure on your tax return if it does not update after you have refreshed. Just make sure you have the correct IRP5 with you - maybe check if the IRP5 certificate number is different from the first one you were given. If not, it means that they have not done the correction the correct way - they were supposed to cancel the first certificate and re-issue you with a new one. Either way, I would suggest you correct on the IT return, and if they issue you with a letter that they need proof, then scan & email your IRP5 and explain what has happened. The onus is then on them to take it up with your employer. This might even result in a PAYE audit for your employer...

In the old days, any changes to an IRP5 required you to request a re-assessment from SARS, not sure with the new Efiling.

I checked and they have the same Certificate number on both.
Can you please let me know the process that the employer would need to do to correct it PROPERLY so that I can inform them - I know the onus is not on me - but I would like to speed this up as much as possible...

    Hi Jennajay,
The employer needs to log into EASYFILE, go to View/Edit Employees, click on the IRP5 they have already submitted for yourself, cancel it, then create a new one with all the correct info on. Then go to Declarations, complete all info, click on "this is a re-submission", self assess, submit to SARS, Submit to SARS only changes (i.e. your new IRP5/the cancelled IRP5, EMP501 and EMP601). Then issue you with the new cerificate.
The new IRP5 should be available immediately on your IT return.
    hope it helps!

    Thanks Christel!

Going to get them to do it today - I know it takes a while to reflect on SARS side so quicker it is done the better! Yay hopefully i can get my refund soon
