Output VAT on gifts to staff

    Hi,

May VAT be claimed on gifts to staff members (ie. say a babyshower gift)?

    Thanks!

Hi guys, sorry to reopen a VERY old thread, but I have to ask.

My common sense tells me that I cannot claim VAT on gifts to staff, but I would love to give my client a reason, not just because I said so.

So I was thinking of saying not expenses incurred in the production of taxable income, is that right?

The input tax on gifts is expressly denied.
If you have a VAT 404 handy, read Chapter 8.5
