    Pastel, Vat on services

    Hi
I have Pastel partner running and have recently had to allow VAT.
Being a small business who carries very little stock, I have entered all my stock items as 'service' items, now when i want to 'adjust tax types' (Edit ..... Adjust Tax Types), it only allows me to edit 'Inventory'.
Is there any way to change service type itemsto allow tax, other than going through each individual item one by one and allowing tax on each?

    Hi Col,

There are two ways you can do it, but neither option is for the faint-hearted!

    Option 1

Export your inventory masterfile into a CSV file and then, in Excel, edit all the relevant fields, and then re-import the CSV file into Pastel. The problem with this option is that, as soon as you open the CSV file with Excel to edit it, the data loses some of its formatting, and you will have error messages when trying to import it back into Pastel. The three columns that lose their faormatting are Inventory Groups, Category and Store - all these need to have two leading zeroes. For example, inventory group 1 needs to be formatted as '001.

    Option 2

You can use the Pervasive Control Centre to edit the relevant fields directly in the database, or you can use other specialised DDF editing software to do it. I have such software, and I can sort out your problem in a matter of seconds, if you will allow me to log onto your system via TeamViewer.

    Hi Col,

I think it will suit me if we made it for this afternoon, as soon as you get back. I have a meeting at 5pm, so could you call me at about 3.30pm?
