You need to save the Excel file in CSV format, in a specific layout.

I have attached the layout requirements.

Once you have created your CSV file, go to Pastel and then select File...Export/Import and then, from the drop-down menu, select "Import General Ledger Accounts" and then browse to your CSV file.

Note that you can only import GL accounts if your Pastel database does not have any existing GL accounts.

I'm afraid I can't answer that question for you, as much as I would like to.

    Hi Neville,

I get the following errors when trying to import from Excel to Pastel14. Line 1 period should be 1-13, I have a 1 in that column?

It also complains about the date

Do you see any obvious mistake in layout?

    Thanks

    Otto

    Hi Otto,

The layout of the file seems fine.

However, you cannot import a regular Excel file with the file extension *.xlsx. Save the file as a CSV file, and then you should be able to import the file successfully.

For importing the general ledgers accounts, not the cash book.
