    WordPress - Help...

Is there anybody who knows WordPress. I am trying to get a site up but I am stuffed if I know how to do a couple of things. The site is up and running technically speaking but i need to figure out how to set up various pages / categories with topics below them.

I suppose one can useanother tool. The idea is to set up a general site that shows the different things that we do and then information below each of them. Nothing particularly clever. I don't want a commerce site, my OsCommerce sites work pretty well.

    Any Ideas?

    What about Joomla?

    Hello Adrianh

When you log into your wordpress profile if you haven't downloaded a specific template that changes things a bit, you can go to:

    Menu
    Appearance

And on the left of the page you will find "pages" add them by ticking the box and say add to menu.

On the right hand side you can "move" the menus to fit underneath each other like having a main page and then sub pages by just dragging them a bit to the right.

If this does not solve your problem please let me know the template you are using.

After messing around with it a bit I decided just to scap the entire site. I ended up replacing the WordPress site with a Joomla site. I have used Joomla before so I suppose it ended up being the quick n dirty solution.

muck about with a free wordpress site initially. It gives you a great starting platform to learn about wordpress, without the pressures of hosting to be paid or people to please.

Good choice. More than happy to help you with your Joomla site if you need it. We don't do much Wordpress (although we will soon) but Joomla is our bread and butter.

Hmm, Joomla is great. I do have a problem though, if I set a menu item to be a link to another site then Joomla automatically adds in the URL of the current site in front of the link I set (this of course causes a groot gamors) I am running on 1.7 with a nifty template.

Make sure the menu item is set to "External URL" and that you enter the entire external URL, beginning with "http://" ... Should work fine then.

If you don't come right give me a shout via PM with your login details and I'll have a quick look for you.
