South Africans tend to avoid buying on the internet. I think its because of all the scams going around here, people dont trust giving up their bank details over the net. there are some people who know the internet well enough to trust it, but most people dont...sorry

What is your source for this. I have an online shop and last month was a record month. All the sales were in SA as well. So let us know where this perception comes from?

I just bought my daughter some law books from the internet ............. 4 days later it was here. No problem. There are ways to overcome the internet security problem by using paypal.

Really? well then i must have it all wrong. . . I read another thread about a guy who opened an online shop that sells t-shirts, and he said he couldnt get any business because south africans are too scared to buy off the internet. Well in this case im glad to be proven wrong, sorry jdg for the inaccurate information.

I sell model trains & dollhouse on my sites, we buy and sell via Bid or Buy and Ebay. We do not need to deal with shops to buy or sell. I bought a R 100,000 laser cutter from China via the Internet.

Doing business on the net is the only way!

consider offering a time-limited trial if you need your customer to WANT the product before they buy it.
if the customer NEEDS the product, marketing and demonstrations (such as videos) could go a long way.
