    Gaming Console Advice

    Hello Everyone,

I am looking at getting a gaming console something like the Wii\PS3\Xbox.

Now truth be told I haven't played games alot since I think the invention of the PS2.

So what do you guys recommend.

I was thinking the Wii and I like the whole motion thing, however I read that beside the show casing of the actual motion technology there are not so many interesting games for the Wii.

Would love to know what you guys recommend and why

    Hi Amith,

With the Wii I believe the novelty wears off really quickly.

My opinion is that the best value-for-money console is the Xbox360. I have actually just got my hands on a new one and am about to sell off my old one.

That said, I do believe the PS3 has the edge in terms of performance and games developed for it (although the majority of games that are made for PS3 can be found for Xbox too). The price has come down significantly and it boasts a blu-ray player as an added bonus.

It all depends on what your budget looks like.

Who is the console going to be for?
Wii = family fun. I personally have a Wii and it is fun to play with, but you will get tired of it. I've only recently started playing again. The next generation of the Wii will be coming out soonish (2012), called the Wii U.
The XBox 360 has a brilliant online community, exclusive titles like Halo and good performance.
The PS3 hasn't got that same online community, although it is really trying. The hardware is technically superior and it also has its own exclusive titles.

if you've owned a PS2, the PS3's game pad won't be such a big leap (the xbox controller is different) for you, so you'll be able to get immersed quicker. As Mark said, the blu-ray player is an added bonus.
If this is your first look into console gaming, and you're just looking for something quick and fun, go for a Wii.
If you want to get immersed into online gaming, I'd say the xbox 360 will do you well.

Its for my wife & myself. Not really looking for heavy gaming, just to have some fun.

@twinscythe12332 will keep your comments in mind. Any good titles you know off besides the sports stuff? How is Mario kart?

I haven't played mario kart, but I hear good things. There will be a legend of zelda coming out soon. That should be pretty fun. I've played a bit of dead space: extraction. a little bit creepy, but a good game. and cabela's most dangerous hunts 2011 was filled to the brim with machismo, but an otherwise entertaining game.
In all honesty, there's not much that stands out there as a "brilliant game" but they're all fun.
take a look at www.btgames.co.za in their wii section.

I've also looked into this a bit and have settled on the PS3.
For actual "adult" games the Xbox and PS3 are better than the Wii
And for movement recognition games the PS3 is better than the Xbox.

Unfortunately, the PS3 is the most expensive....

If you're into motion controls and casual fun, the Wii is a great choice, but its game library is more family-oriented. If you're looking for a broader range of games, including more immersive and visually stunning experiences, the PS3 or Xbox 360 might be better. Both have strong game libraries, online features, and multimedia capabilities. If you want motion controls, the PS3 offers the PlayStation Move, and the Xbox 360 has Kinect. It depends on whether you're leaning more toward casual gaming or a mix of casual and hardcore titles.
