[Question] Being Fired for A sale that resulted in a loss

Hi, i just want to find out if I have a leg to stand on in regards to a case my company is trying to fire me for. I was the sales person that did a sale that led to a 17k loss for the company even though I followed all procedures given to me. The product was priced incorrectly online by another department and then sold. I was the agent that dealt with the client. I have no previous warnings and have been working there for 3 years. Can i be dismissed for this loss to company even though I feel it was not gross negligence on my side?

I do not think you can be fired if you have followed all the procedures and worked on a price provided by another dept. However, were you aware of the price discrepancy but decided to let it go regardless? Discuss the facts with management and appeal their decision. If you are blameless you can get legal support or go to the CCMA if you get fired.

      Everything Blurock said plus...

Make sure that you have a copy of your employment contract. The term "fired" is also problematic - Get everything in writing - whatever the outcome.
