Hi People, been doing a lot of gardening as of late and sadly is in the process of rebuilding my greenhouse as the PVC one couldn't handle it. Anyhow i am growing veggies for consumption AND for selling at the local market. Now this is very lucrative and i am looking into expanding this venture "micro farm" into its full potential.

So obviously living in Mpumalanga there are many pests like moths destroying my plants. Now i have used the following to combat other problems i have.

Dish-washing liquid.
Lime Sulphur
Bicarbonate of Soda

Looking for Eden Shield Direct
Neem oil

i use this to protect my squash plants But saw a few pests buzzing around and it seems my treatment isn't protecting my plants.

So i turn to the experts! What is a good all rounder that i can use and still feel safe in the product i am selling/eating. I don't like poisons in general.

Also if anyone can give me tips on how to break down chlorine in water that would help a lot because our tap water smells like pool water and yes it burns your eyes.

put all the cigarette stompies you can find into a 200L drum and when you have a really strong smelling dark brown solution spray that on the plants and the ground around them making sure you get under the leaves as well.

To get rid of the chlorine in the water, you require an activated carbon filter.

Have been grow veggies for a while, but finally made a shade netting "green house" - working brilliantly.

I use a dish washing liquid / water mix for aphids - works well

For caterpillars/ moths. In a blender mix a full head of garlic and a handful of chillies. Put in a jar with about 750ml water and let it sit overnight. Strain contents well, cloth then paper towel works. Then I dilute @ 1 to 3 and spray on the leaves, I use a small 1lt pressure pump spray to get under the leaves.

But with both you need to apply fairly often - once a week seems to work for me.

Letting the municipal water stand for a while supposedly gets rid of the chlorine - think it called "off gas" something like that. I run my water into a 100lt bin first. It lets it of gas as well as I chuck nutrients in it - normally "worm tea". You should think of making a worm farm, easy to make and great way to compost.
