    D.B.board hight restriction

    Hi All.
with regards to the installation of distribution boards is there a hight limit, can I mount a D.B.3 metre above floor level and cover it up with a false ceiling and have the main circuit breaker behind a door, that one needs, a panel key to open . please lets hear what is the definition of a D.B.

    Regards

    Mike

I'll run this by my electricians on Tuesday if someone doesn't tighten up on the details before then. I'm a partner in an electrical company, not an electrician
    But:

The main switch must be accessible. This is so that if something goes wrong the electricty supply can be switched off. I can't see a main switch being locked away being acceptable.

And when it comes to the location of the db - spare a thought for the next electrician who doesn't know it is hidden in a false ceiling! Or anyone else trying to reset a tripped circuit breaker and doesn't know the installation. Maybe a sign below going "db in ceiling" with an arrow up to the location?
    Participation is voluntary.
