When we design and install solar system they are well within the equipment limits, with some room to flex.
I never thought I would have to use this feature, until today.
A good example: You buy a house, live n it for a couple years and as the family grows, and you add equipment to the house, maybe a spa, a sauna, Jacuzzi, an aircon to each room and you turn your garage into a small workshop for your hobby, suddenly one day in the middle of summer the 60 amp circuit breaker feeding the house starts tripping.
You apply to the council to get the power upgraded from 60 to 80Amps, (normally it is free) for this example there is a fee to upgrade, as we all know this will take some time to fix, or the cable run is only a 16 mmsq and it is a long run from the meter to the main DB.
So you look at your setup at home and realise that you have 10 kwp of solar on the roof and 40kwh of battery power
The solution is simple you go to peak shaving, set it to 8/9/10 or 11 kw and what will happen, if the power exceeds the setting, instead of the cable heating up or tripping the breaker, it will utilise the solar or battery to supply the balance of power to the load.
