What ratings do insurers specify (if any) nowdays?
I've always specified 20KA. Glad to hear what everyone does

    Hello : )

I have seen a document from an insurance company for client and it states a 40KA, also spoke to another spark awhile back at the supplier and he said it's 40Ka as well, and he had a good moan about it and all sorts.

So now as standard I do 40KA and I think it has to be 40KA "In" so the max inrush or current or what ever it is. It's been awhile since looking at the topic of SPDs as I decided just make sure there is 40KA stamped all over the surge device haha.

CBI usually only have 10KA so then I would use I think it was LEAR. Probably not good at all like a DEHN but it's a bazillion times cheaper and satisfies insurance

Insurance have also got into the habit of requesting a Type 1 and 2 combined surge arrestor
