    Lightning ans surge protection

A topic I beleive reuires some communication.

Is it the installers reposiblity to include "Lightning protection" and "surge protection"

If you install solar panels on a metal roof in a domestic application, is it the customers or installers resposiblity to do a lightning assessment ?

If an installer knocks an earth spike into the ground, runs a 6 mm wire from a grounding lug on the rail down to a spike, is it regarded as lightning protection ?

I would say that the installer, as part of their quote state the cost for Lightning and Surge protection, as an optional extra.
Why optional extra, because other installers do not include this in their quote, which makes their quote cheaper.
Of course part of the acceptance of the order is the customer signing that they do not wish to have the respective protection so that you have a legal document to protect yourself when the fan turns and the brown sticky smelly stuff is being hurled everywhere.
