Loop impedance tests when in islanding mode

I decided to do a loop impedance at a socket outlet while the inverter was in islanding mode, just as I expected all the lights started flickering.

The question is , should you even be doing a loop impdeance test on an inverter?
Comments are my opinion, unless regulations are attached to support the comment. This is social media, not a court room.

Loop impedance tests are extremely important irrespective of whether the supply is from Eskom, Municipality, a generator ( alternator) or an inverter.

It doesnt matter where the supply is coming from, one must make sure that the overcurrent protective devices are going to do their job in the case of an earth fault and the only way to ensure that is to do a loop impedance test.

Do bear in mind that inverters have a built in over current detection, which will trip far quicker than any electro mechanical device.

Just as a side note, electronics can detect an over current with in 1 micro second, that is 0.000001 of a second, delays are introduced to allow for spurious load changes as equipment powers up.
This kind of detection is usually implemented when the current measured gets real close to the destructive current the IGBTs can handle, which occurs when there is a dead short.
