Does a pool need a sub db

Can I get the builder's electrician to just put a waterproof plug outlet nearby and plug a 750w pump into it if I have no pool light?

I assume a pool light changes things but at R1500 for a pool light and then 1500 minimum for a pool db you have to question how valuable a pool light is when i can just have an R80 floodlight installed nearby

Then assuming you have a pool light can you not run the 12v supply and the pump outlet from the main db in the garage?

A pool db is not a requirement.
A weatherproof socket outlet on earth leakage is sufficient for the pump. Not ideal because of there being no timer, but it is acceptable.

Make sure your builder's electrician is qualified and registered then he should know these things and should be able to answer all your questions.
