[Question] Gas Stove Consumption : Oven

    Hi all,

I've got a gas stove, I use it a lot during the week. I usually get a 9kg bottle. Now I need to work out how much gas the oven, not top burners, uses on highest setting per hour. I have no clue how to calculate.

    Bottle:
    LPG Gas 9kg @ R380 per bottle

    Stove info on the label:
    Gas Supply 2.8Kpa
    Design consumption: 415g/h
    Loading Heat 13800w
Heat Load: Burner 0.88mm and 2700w (on the oven section of the sticker back of stove)

    Please come to my rescue.

Not sure how these calcs work.

Wouldn't it be 9kg divide by Design consumption: 415g/h = 21.69 hours of usage

Trying to calculate the gas consumption from the heat output stated on the oven is going to be hit and miss. The oven will have a modulated gas valve which is fully open when the oven temperature is below the set temperature but it will close when the oven gets hot enough so the consumption is not a constant. Best way would be to physically weigh the gas bottle before and after you use the oven for an hour or two.
