What is the equivalent SANS standard as I'm not able to find a SANS 61009-1? Or to cut to the chase, if a RCBO complies to IEC 61009-1, can it be used as per SANS 10142-1?
At the front of SANS 10142-1 Table 4.1 it gives the various standards and compulsory requirements for different items .
ELU /RCBO would fall under SANS 556 -2-1

Thank you. I went ahead and actually bought SANS 556-2-1:2018 Ed 1.01. The SANS standard references IEC 60947-2:2016 with some amendments. Unfortunately it doesn’t reference IEC 61009-1 which seems to be the main standard for RCBOs internationally. So it’s not clear if compliance to IEC 61009-1 alone would make a RCBO compliant to SA standards.

Just to add, this is the specific RCBO model I want to install: https://www.se.com/uk/en/product/A9D...a-30-ma-240-v/. I was able to buy these for around 45GBP before shipping and import duties and VAT.

Just thought this thread was worth a bump. I recently did an installation that required a couple of 20A / 30mA RCBO's which I got from RS Components. Yeah they're not the cheapest at around 7 hundred bucks inc VAT but they were delivered in 3 days to my workshop. Just wondered if any major wholesalers are keeping stock at their branches yet?
