Requirements to maintain installation electrician certification

Just wondering, if I qualify as an installation electrician are there any requirements that I need to meet to maintain that?

    1) Once registered as an installation electrician, does one have to be a practicing electrician to keep the registration?
    2) Does one have to re-register annually or do any sort of annual exam/coursework to keep the registration active?

    Thanks

There is no CPD requirement at this point for installation electricians. The principle is gaining popularity, though. So maybe one day...

Yes. But note that you can register for up to three years at a time, which would mean you only have to renew every three years.
Correct answer is no (refer post 4 below).

Thanks Dave! What are the requirements to renew your registration? Is it just the 2-page registration document and R75. Ie. Re-submitting your original qualifications each time?

Oops! Just reread your first question. You're asking about registration as an installation electrician.

When it came to the renewal part, I was thinking of the situation for an electrical contractor.

Which means I gave the wrong answer.

No, you don't have to renew your registration as an installation electrician.

        Sorry - my bad!

ya,once once you have your card its for life. i just did a 3 day scaffold erection and inspection course with some health and safety company. once i received the certificate ,i see it expires after 2 years . you have to do a refresher course every 2 years.if you dont do it within 2 years, then you must do the complete course over again. money making scam.

We cant turn out enough installation electricians as it is, it would be madness to have to do a refresher course, but, if the governmunt can make money form it it shall soon happen!
Apparently there is nothing that cannot happen today.
