    This account can no longer use Whatsapp

    I've handed down my old iPhone 11 Pro to my domestic helper and I am busy setting it up for her.

    She gave me a new Cell-C simcard which I have inserted into the phone and I have tested that the number is valid by sending a SMS from her phone to mine and back again.

    However, when trying to register WhatsApp on her phone, I get the message "This account can no longer use Whatsapp - Chats are still on this device". I don't understand this because I wiped the iPhone back to factory settings after signing out from my iCloud account.

    I was given an option to submit a request to have the account reviewed, which will typically take 24 hours.

    Any idea what is going on here?
