    [Question] Email Unsubscribe

Apart from using an email handler such as MailChimp I would like to know how to go about adding an unsubscribe facility in gmail. I have been able to create the link, but the email comes through with nothing in the subject line and that does not tell me anything. Does anybody know what I should do to get something in the subject line?

Just list it as spam and gmail will sort it for you. The spam folder will automatically be cleared after a period or you could clear it yourself.

Edit the link to the following structure

      Code:
      mailto:yourname@yourdomain.com?subject=This%20is%20a%20subject
      Participation is voluntary.

Alcocks Electrical Services | Alcocks Pest Control & Entomological Services | Alcocks Hygiene Services

        Thanks for the reply Dave.
However, when I insert the link I have to insert "Text to display" and
        "Email address".
I have now tried several ways of inserting the information, but just cannot get it right. Whenever I reply to the email
nothing appears in the subject line.
Is it only me who do not know how to do it or are there more people? With the POPI act we will have no choice to get this right.
To start off with something like MailChimp it could be expensive.

If I understand you correctly, you want to send an email from gmail with an Unsubscribe link in it.
Place your cursor where you want the link.
Click on the Insert Link icon.
In Text to display box, type Unsubscribe.
Select the Email Address option and enter your email address directly followed by ?subject=Unsubscribe (yourmail@gmail.com?subject=Unsubscribe).
Gmail may warn you it's an invalid address, but it should work.

You can go one step further: yourmail@gmail.com?subject=Unsubscribe&body=Remove%20me%20from%20you r%20database

Note: There shouldn't be any spaces after the ?. Spaces are replaced by %20. Yes I know there's a space in my example, but it doesn't show when I try to edit it.

Another Edit: This will only work if you click on the link, not reply to a received email.

Thanks very much for the help. It is actually very easy when you know what to do.

True remarkably often when it comes to IT. And many other things too, come to think of it...

I guess that is why the story is in the journey rather than the destination.
