Unfortunately that is only one daily risk. We can get infection around any corner. My foot is up on my desk at the moment. I am not sure if it was a spider bite or not that caused the blood poisoning. I believe it may have come from a bit of flux which I ignored that fell onto my foot when welding. I was relaxing at home after work when I was asked to weld something. Without bothering to put on closed shoes I went to the garage wearing open sandals and did the favour. I felt the burn but it was not bad enough to warrant removing the small piece of flux. I am now on a course of 2 antibiotics and was told that had I waited 2 days I would have had to spend 2 weeks in hospital. Fortunately it was caught early so it is responding to the treatment quickly.

You missing the point. Most of the people here have kids/grandkids and allow them to run around barefoot. It is not just energysaving bulbs that are dangerous.

OOPS that came out a bit rough sorry if it seemed like an insult

I meant to attach the other pictures (that was what the 'you asked for it' was about) but my manageing the attachment failed.

No harm done, just get riled when I try to warn people of danger & they look past it. Seen too much already.

I don't think the inflamation and infection in any open wound is caused by mercury. A lot of the e-mails and reports that have been doing the rounds are just hype.

One CFL contains a hundred times less mercury than is found in a single dental amalgam filling
    source
5 milligrams of mercury contained in a CFL lamp isn't enough to cause a serious health issue even if the lamp is broken. Also mercury is mainly a neurotoxin and can cause respiratory issues, it doesn't cause skin of flesh damage. The infected cuts are just infections, you can't treat any mercury related symptoms with antibiotics.
