    Eskom again

Didn't know if i should post this in the jokes forum or not.

Johannesburg - Eskom chief executive Jacob Maroga was warned by an international energy expert that the utility was heading for a coal crisis, six months before the power crisis paralysed the country in January last year.
She could not be reached for comment on Thursday but, according to an acquaintance who worked with her in South Africa, she had described the interview with Maroga as "a waste of breath".
    rest of story here.

Taking into consideration that Eskom is our lifeblood this is actually scary stuff. Remember if Eskom goes down there is no more South Africa. Everything dies! Jacob Maroga better wake up! This time it is for all the marbles! Drop this and it is game over for industry, our lively hood as South Africans and our health is all connected to ESKOM.

I think there is little doubt that Eskom was guilty of gross negligence in the run-up to the January 2008 crisis. The big question is how are we placed at the moment?

Have the hard lessons been learnt?

I will surprise you but Kendal Power Station is doing all it can to help us. Really it’s little wonder that Kendal is the top PowerStation in the World! Yes you are not misreading this Kendal is doing all they can to keep us powered!

But if only our other Power-Stations wants to do the same. Really the people working at Kendal deserves a big thank you because they are really trying to look past all the troubles Eskom are having and is trying to deliver as much power as they can possibly produce!

This shows us that with the right dedication and “will”. Eskom can overcome all these bad things. I think they need to look at the heads that are not helping and replace them with heads that can help. Management is the real problem here...

I've been quietly sitting on this, but perhaps now's the right time to mention it.

In tracking down where our traffic comes from earlier this month, I discovered that our electrical load shedding forum has come in for a worthy mention by government as an initiative that promotes saving electricity.

I was pretty chuffed (although I expect a government subsidy is out of the question ).

Clearly there's a place in this world for constructive criticism.
