    Buying a new pc

I buying a new pc and all suggestions are welcome.

At the moment my budged is R 6 500.
Here is a list of the specs i thought would work.

    CPU: Intel E8600
    MB: Foxconn P35AX-S
    GPU: Nvidia 9600GT 512MB
    Ram: Kingmax 2GB DDR2
    HDD: Maxtor 320GB
    Case: Gigabyte X1
    PSU: 400W
    Screen: BenQ 22" LCD

+ DVD writer, mouse, keyboard, etc.

I might have to tweak it here and there to not go over R 6500.

Please let me know what you think, perhaps you know of a better cpu or MB with + - the same price.

    thanx

I'm you sure you can get a decent 17/19" CRT.

I'd say that's possible without the screen, but just barely.
I normally look at www.computersonly.co.za for an average look at costs.

    Thanx for the site twinscythe.

    Does anyone have a Q8200?
is this a good choice or not?
If possible could someone recommend a motherboard for this processor.

I would like a MB with the following:
    6 or more usb2 ports
    E sata
    6 or more Sata II
    FSB 1333
    Ram 800Mhz

    Thanx

Any reason you don't want the Foxconn? According to the specs here: http://www.foxconnchannel.com/produc...D=en-us0000339 It looks like an awesome setup! Quad-core!

Get yourself a 500w PSU and include a UPS Trust me it helps! Maxtor runs hot so an extra Fan or two is also good plan.

A decent case should include a reasonable power supply. I got a 400W with mine. Yes, i fully agree UPS's are a real good investment! Its not even the reliability of eskom that you need one, just that added security.
