    Drove off with my merc

I have a Mercedes C200 that has been standing at my office for year now!!!
Mostly I just not had the time to prepare and sell the car.
So about a month ago I started parking the vehicle outside my office with a for sale sign.
A week ago two guys came into the office and said they were cash buyers.
They just needed to hear the car start. Because it was not driven for a year the battery was not in order and I spent R1500 on a new battery.
The next day they never came back.
Two days ago they were back, eager to do the deal.
I had one of my guys show them the car, started it and they walked around and kicked the tires.
The they said that the money man would be in town later that day and they would be back.
The guy politely locked the car and even checked the doors.
Off they went, not more than 3 minutes later my guy went outside again and the car was gone.
Astounded he though how could they steal the car in less than 3 minutes.......
he still had the key in his pocket......he looked at it in amazement and realized they swapped keys. The moment they had the keys in their hands they made the swap.

This is a warning to all private sellers. Don't let your car keys out of you hands when in the presence of a potential buyer.

I'm so sorry to hear this - and thanks for sharing as a warning to others.

Now can I make like the police and ask -
    Was the car insured?

It was, on another matter. I had Tracker installed on the insistence of
my insurance company. I prefer C Track
When I called I was promptly told that my device will not be activated as their is an issue with my account.
Apparently my debit order did not go through last month (notified them of the change in my instruction) now they refused to track the vehicle, after 4 hours and a whole lot of and some and even a few they finally activated the system.

Only to find that the vehicle did not respond, I was told that this is common with Tracker and I should just be patient. Its been a few days now and still nothing. In my opinion a very poor system.

I can recommend C Track to any business owner from another business owner and as an Short term insurance adviser.

We went with Bandit - also quite a sweet system.

This is terrible. Now you never know who to trust. Do you think that the claim could be rejected due to "negligence" on your part.
I just wish these crooks would use the same savvy in business that they display with this.
I hope this is sorted out soon and that tracker read this to see what actual user experience is.

I've always thought tracker to be quite good. Not that i have any experience with them and i doubt that i shall now that i've read this.
    Thanx
