Hi Marq, thanks for your comments. It's great to hear from someone who has kicked the habit! And over 10 years ago?!?! That's really impressive! Every bit of feedback that get's added to this thread, will push the smokers towards the light (that sounds weird doesn't it?)

You know what irks my soul? I don't have an Exclusive Books close to me, I am close to the Kolonnade on Sambezi Drive, and it is a development explosion here, but not one Exclusive Books! Seems like people in the North (read most of SA) are not very selective readers, so I end up ordering my books anyway. Menlyn has an Exclusive Books but that mall has become my bank manager's nemesis.

What astounded me was the many other titles available from the same author, have you read any of it, and is it any good?

I salute you -- cold turkey sounds mean and tough, just like strangling the poor weak souls like myself I sure am glad I am out of reach of your hands right now, what sanctuary this side of the screen provides. But then 10 years give me hope for the future.

'It's not at the top of my to-do list right now, but it's on there' is one of the most effective lines eva! Guess it stands to reason that a good line will come from a man

I'm not in the mood for work today, so that has been my standard response today. It works, I love it! Thanks.

Just remember it comes with a price - the "heart's discontent" bit

Most of the books do more or less the same thing. The only three different ones are to stop smoking, to lose weight, and to stop caring (well that's what it sounds like). I will definitely invest in the last two, no doubt. The really strange thing is, I've been losing weight since I quit smoking. Isn't that super weird?!?!

I have a couple of friends that attended his seminars. Serious smokers, they all quit without a problem. Something about the methods he used worked great. I also understand that Discovery medical aid pays a large percentage of the costs for these seminars. It is a pity Allen died in 2006...

It sure is! He wasn't sorry though, he said he had a good 10 years after he quit. The fact that he was so motivated to get the world to quit is VERY inspiring. He had big dreams, and it sounds like they might eventually become a reality.

Well, I got the CD's by accident, 5 of them I thought i was buying the book, I am sorry to say that I spent the weekend listening to the cds and I tried very hard, gave it my all, but I failed to quit. There is nothing easy about it, and Jakes joined me as well, and he failed too.

    Best way

The best way to give up smoking is to be lying in hospital and watching the poor bugger in the next bed die of lung cancer. Worked for me!
