Labour on taxi workers wage increase

    Wage hike for taxi workers

    20 June 2008

As from 1 July 2008, workers within the taxi industry sector can expect an increase in minimum wages.

Drivers and administration staff will receive a minimum wage of R 1740,53 per month if they work 48 hours per week, while Rank Marshals will get a minimum wage of R 1392,42.

Other workers in the industry who are not mentioned elsewhere will get hikes of R1218,38. These increases were based on the May CPIX which was 10,1% at the time plus two percent.

The boarding allowance will also be increased by CPIX and will therefore increase from R200 to R220 per night.
