So you're all worried about Zuma...

This is an email I received and I think it makes for interesting reading for any South African.

Gavin Evans, a former operative of the South African Communist Party, the African National Congress and the ANC/SACP military wing during the underground period 1980-1990.

He has his own blog and provides a newsworthy insight into the political figures and workings of the ANC... (past & present)

Nice link, Vincent. Well worth the read.

For those who aren't sure what you might find at the other side, here's the intro (I'm sure Gavin Evans won't mind).
I have recently been deluged with agitated queries from English friends on what the election of Jacob Zuma means for South Africa. Invariably, the subtext involves a sense of impending doom: that after 14 years of stability, the politics of Zimbabwe has arrived. I can’t discount this possibility but it seems remote. Instead I’m tending towards the view that the election as ANC leader of this corruption-tainted, gay-bashing, misogynistic, polygamist was the better of the two lamentable options available to delegates at Polekwane. This blog draws on impressions of both men, on the way to reaching this unusually positive conclusion.
My interest at the moment is what happens if Zuma does not become State President - still a possibility...
The trouble with opportunity is it normally comes dressed up as work.
