    Solutions for my business, security, antivirus, web control, PC control

    Greetings

    I am looking for answers on how to beef up my IT side as my company has grown to almost 20 people and a dozen computers. Its probably long overdue but I feel I need to setup internet control, network security, better antivirus, better backup solutions and would love to hear what is available in terms of blocking software installations and private files on all my workstations. I'm just not sure where to start with all of this and what software etc can be trusted and what is best value for money. There are probably companies that provide all of this but I haven't been able to find them. I am obviously looking for something that is financially viable to a small/medium business like myself but will give me piece of mind. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Can you describe your current setup? What OS do you use? Do you use a server? Where are you data stored? Etc.

    You are looking at quite a few different aspects here.

    "Locking" down workstations will require some sort of active directory. (Complicated, you will need to outsource this one, too much to learn)

    Better antivirus is easy - You cannot go wrong with ESET. It's expensive, but it works and you can control all workstations from a single server if you do not want the enterprise range then look at Immunet, free and entirely cloud based.

    Then networking:

    Get the Ubiquiti Unifi ecosystem.

    The Internet from the Telkom line (DSL) -> ADSL/VDSL Modem (Brand does not matter you will make this a dumb switch, disable all functionality you want this to convert analog to digital that's it.) -> Unifi USG (This will be your firewall and network controller) -> Unifu Switch -> Workstations.

    USG = https://scoop.co.za/ubiquiti-unifi-s...-firewall.html

    Unifi Switch = https://scoop.co.za/ubiquiti-24-port...ed-switch.html

    For backups, there is a lot of ways to skin a cat, this can be done with the active directory or you can do it manually using a NAS like the Synology connected to the Unifi Switch.

    If you are looking for locking down Windows 10 Laptops/PC then try Scalefusion MDM to secure and manage your computers.
