Also, there are a number of cloud based payroll solutions which are very reasonable and ideal for Mac users who are happy not to use a desktop product:

Is your efiling profile registered to submit EMP501s? And, it's very early to be generating IRP5s now, if memory serves me correctly, I sent out last year's IRP5s on 31/05/16.

I've got Sage Payroll. Just need to sort out SARS procedures. I'm not sure whether I'm registered to submit EMP501s on eFiling. Can I edit it to include that? I know I've submitted EMP201s...

Ok, sign on to efiling then select 'Organisations' from the top menu bar then select 'Organisation Tax Types' from the vertical menu pane on the left and you'll see the EMP201- PAYE, SDL, UIF and the EMP 501 activation status for your profile. You can read from that page how to activate and de-activate.

Edit: Have a read from page 37 onwards of this external guide:

Moriarty, I cannot thank you enough!!! I was in fact not registered for EMP501 - now its there, with the EMP201. I'll read the guide from cover to cover. Thank you once again. Much appreciated!

Been there..but with a Mac, avoid using Safari when interacting with SARS, I managed to stuff up a profile that way (long story), use Firefox.

Wine is a small program that imitates a Windows environment. Has creates a pseudo C:/ drive and a few essential folders such as Program Files etc on your Mac without actually partitioning your drive. It essentially fools a Win .exe into thinking that its in a Windows environment. Its slow and glitchy and not all Win programs run properly. I managed to get e@syfile installed but the sync process timed out everytime. So I just deleted the lot since I discovered I don't actually need any of this and can do it all on eFiling.
