    About time, frankly.

To my mind the next step would be to invoke the defective product recall provisions of the Consumer Protection Act.
I also see CBI is now pursuing a civil case for damages.

The harder this importer is hit, the greater the deterrent to other importers from trying the same thing.
The trouble with opportunity is it normally comes dressed up as work.

What am I missing? This guy put R5.5M in his pocket and got a R1.6M fine of which R1.5 is suspended for a few years! That means you can import and sell junk to the value of R5.5m every 5 years at the cost of R100k irrespective of how many lives it cost!

The game isn't over. This should be just the first blow that opens the door for more to follow.

BTW - I've heard Pierre Northend is retiring from SafeHouse, and the hunt is on for someone to replace him.
