    Investec prefers faxes to emails?

Ok, this one seems mighty strange to me. What am I missing?

Investec will not accept investment instructions by email. They will however accept them by fax!

This appears ludicrous to me, especially as we are going to scan the documents in order to fax them, which is what we would do for emailing too. Is there perhaps a reason for this policy that you guys are aware of?

Its the first time i have heard of that.

I have dealt with Investec when moving clients investments from Investec and it has all been done via e-mail

Well, that would be the logical route, but this is a quote off their email:

"Please note that Investec Asset Management does not accept instructions via email. In order to ensure your instructions are processed timeously going forward, please ensure that you send your instruction via the web or fax as follows..."

    Odd. Very odd.

Its not for me, its a pensioner withdrawing funds. So its a once off transaction. I'm guessing there is some significant process involved in getting web access - probably involving faxes

But yes, you're correct the web access is first prize. I'm just still amazed that they will accept faxes but not emails. Kinda wondering if morse code would be acceptable too
