    Function of the ECB

I have been out of the Electrical Industry for 20 years and recently decided to use my qualification and registered a company.

I registered with the Dept of Labour as well as the ECA and ECB.

I have read about the spat between the ECA and ECB.

I have tried finding out what the function of the ECB is now and where do they fit into the picture. No one seems to be able to give me any straight answers.

Anyone on this forum able to help?

    Thanks.

You don't have to register with the ECB or the ECA only the DOL
Comments are based on opinion...not always facts....that's why people use an alias.

Effectively a private company with a fairly good product (eCOC's) seems to be the best way I've heard it described of late.

I see they're trying to introduce a standards role into the mix this year... Read the fine print on the annual renewal.

Thank you all for making the effort to reply to me.

I did join all of them. Even if it is just to have bragging rights when it comes to doing my stationary, emails etc. The one organisation does have eCoC's and I like that very much. I have been in IT for the last 15 years, everything I do nowadays revolve around IT.

I am a perfectionist and most times do more than what is asked of me. To my detriment. I don't need anyone policing me.

Electrical installations is about safety. I did a course on regulations years ago and can still remember most of it. The lecturer said that it was all about common sense. You don't need to know the regulations off by heart to do a safe installation.

I think regulations are there for people who try to get away with doing the least possible for the most possible. Like the company that built my house. Using sand and reject material. Can't find any cement anywhere.

The one organisation are telling you how much they are going to do for you. And that they are there for you. Well, I send them emails and they don't reply. I have to phone them. When I did phone for advice the one time I spoke to a gentleman that sounded more like a salesman than anything else.
