Durban is still the busiest container port in Sub Saharan Africa but the gap is gradually narrowing. In 2005, Cape Town was the second busiest container port in Sub Saharan Africa (behind Durban) but as at 2012 Cape Town has fallen behind Lagos, Luanda and Mombasa.
