    Samsung Galaxy S4 Notifications

I have just upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy S3 to a S4, and I am battling to get audible notifications of incoming emails on the Gmail app.

I get a notification in the Notification Bar, but there is no sound.

I have checked my Gmail settings and have selected the ringtone that I want for the notifications, but it doesn't work.

I had it working perfectly on my S3. I have since wiped the S3 clean so I can't even check my settings there anymore.

    Any advice?

    Aha! I figured it out!

I had my phone in block mode and one of the block mode settings was ticked to block all notifications.

Seems the price of being on the bleeding edge of technology is you need to figure out all these little quirks yourself

Neville - I don't know whether you prefer to use HP type RPN calculators. I use a software calculator called Droid48 on my tablet and S4. The calculator works like a charm and even has a basic no frills mode if you tap the calculator screen.
