In my case I have 3 businesses
Microsolve - design and manufacture niche microprocessor products -- my moto "turning ideas into products"
Justloadit - Prepaid airtime vending including handheld/portable POS
    Simplelights - LED lighting solutions

Quite often when I am representing "Microsolve", I get mistaken for "Microsoft", I usually joke that one day I would like to be as wealthy as Bill, and that maybe 'you' can help me get there. I usually get a chuckle and the ice is broken to do business.

I feel that the names are indicative of what the business or service has to offer.

A name such as "Pretoria cubboard guy" is great for a local business, but not so great if it becomes nation wide. It sounds as though it is area bound. So care should be taken in the name selection as well if you wish to grow.

Spot on! In choosing a name, one should have the future in mind.

In Mark's case Red Giant did not say anything to me at first, but link it to their business and you can immediately connect the dots. The name is not descriptive, but it tells you that this is a fun place with creative, innovative guys with great ideas. They design smart logos and web sites, so the name works for them. I think a stuffy name such as Mark's Computer Graphics would have told me that he's a stuck up nerd and I might have given him a miss.
Excellence is not a skill; its an attitude...
