    Salary Adjustment

i have a question with regards to a salary adjustment, the company that i work for has promoted me into a more senoir postion. My manager had re-written me job description and motivated the increase, the A line manager had also written a motivation, all of this was sent HR who has from November 2012 done nothing. This was broght to the attention of the MD who had assigned some one to check the markets as to what i should be getting, a report was complied to him and at the time in December i was told that i will get half of the increase in january and the other during our increase month, guess what end of Jan and still nothing.

My question is do i have any rights to this? i was promised this,i have nothing in writing only what was verbally said.

It would seem reasonable to assume the increase in pay would go with your assumption of the new position.

Perhaps the first step would be to request a letter confirming your appointment to your new post and the effective date thereof.

    Hi Dave

I spoke my manager regarding this and i have been told that HR has not accepted my new job description. I refused all my new tasks assigned to until the new job descripton is accepted. I am not sure as to what more to do, been working my way to the top for five years. I have started looking for a new job as this is the only other solution.

Why don't you approach the HR department and find out why this was not accepted then work with your boss on getting an acceptable job description. It will be a great learning experience. I always try and work with bureaucrats until they piss me off by being bloody minded.
Only stress when you can change the outcome!

Hi Pritesh, It is quite a difficult situation. I can well understand how tough it is to continue a job that too with extended duties and no increment specially if it has been said so. But I think in this situation, the best you can do to talk to the manager of your department as he already has approved your extended job. I am sure he can do something with this as he knows your capability. Another thing you have to opt for is to talk to the HR department about it clearly and tries to understand what is the problem behind their non increment. Go for it as only effective communication can solve all the problems. Apart from this, the other best option that is searching the new job, you are already trying. Best of luck
