    compact camera

I am looking for a compact camera for around R1000, any ideas. I am using my cellphone nokia E52 at the moment, but it takes kak pics. Looking for something small for site work.

The phone i carry on me is a nokia 1202 an it dosent have a camera, i have taken the back cover off and used packing tape to hold the battery on, and you ask why because i always put my phone down while working and nobody steals it.

The Nikon coolpix 6150 is a good little camera. Resonable price.

Have a look at a Nikon or Canon. I own both and in all honesty the Canon is small inexpensive is a 10 mega-pixel have a proper 35ml lens. But if you are looking for something a bit bigger the Nikon S6200 is a massive little camera, it is supper small but gives you 16 mega Pixels and has a 45ml lens, it uses a rechargeable battery and you can use it’s USB cable with a good USB car charger. So it works for if you are on the go. I do also recommend a Ultra fast SD card to go with it as it helps with speed.

Both camera's I got for about R1k "on special"

If you are looking for something with a “view finder” then the Canon is the better camera most small camera’s don’t have one anymore. As to why? I will never know….

If the camera has an LCD display, then why have a view finder?
You are already seeing the picture on the screen. The only time that I feel a view finder is required, is only when the light is so dim that I can hardly see the picture in the display.

I also pefer using a SLR camera with a viewfinder. Those pesky little LCD's just hurt my eyes.

I find that the LCD display to be useless when you try to view it in the sun. A viewfinder "in my opinion" allows me more usability.
