Easyfile employer updates too frequent and too big

It seems that every time I want to do something on Easyfile Employer an update is required and despite them stating that it will will only take a few minutes depending on internet connection see

the update seems to download the +-80MB of the whole program. If you don't click on the "inactivity" message when it pops up, the update disconnects, so I have resorted to downloading the zip file every time. Is the update supposed to be faster than downloading the zip file? What are your experiences?

I agree with you Laurence. I also don't like the fact that you are unable to minimise the screen ... so one sits waiting for ages for the update to take place. My connection is also pretty fast, but it still takes a long time.

I feel for those people who are on a "pay as you go" or limited data system, that have to buy more data every time they update the easyfile package. At one stage you were (supposed to be) able to get a disk from the SARS branch, but I tried twice and was turned away each time saying they did not have stock - oh yes ... and they require you to have a request on a company letterhead for the disk.

The bit that confuses me is that the update seems to be just as big/take just as long as the zip file download option. So what is the point of the "update" option? I understand under update that only the bits that have changed are downloaded.

No - that would be almost... considerate.

And a bit more complex. Much easier just to send out the whole program.

Probably for the better, frankly. Any added complexity on the coder's side and the program would probably throw more bugs than it does already
