    Pastel Periods and Postings

    Please if anyone can help with the following. A client of mine bought pastel and wants to enter all the accounts information from 2010 to 2012 in pastel. I have set the start date for Pastel as Jan 2010 but my client does not have all his info for 2010 is there a way I can post the 2011 accounts without changing the year end period or do I have to wait for the information from 2010 to all be entered first?

    You can do what you suggest, but it will involve more work than doing the job chronologically and doing the year-end rollovers in the conventional way.

    To do it as you suggest, you will need to do the following:

    • Create a copy company of the 2010 accounts;
    • Delete any transaction history in the copy company (if any);
    • Run the year-end in the copy company, so that it is set up for 2011;
    • Process the 2011 transactions in the copy company (at this stage the copy company will not have any opening balances);
    • Process the 2010 transactions in the original company as and when you can;
    • Process the opening balances in the copy company (as last year entries), using the closing balances of the original company.

    Hi Neville,

    Really need your help on Pastel!

    I created a company on Pastel but captured the wrong period when setting up the compnay using "Auto setup".

    Where can I change the period to the correct one? I tried by going to SETUP-PERIODS but when changing "Last year" periods it does not update "This year periods"

    When setting up i accidently captured "last year" period as "this year"

    Please can you help me - this is an assignment and I need to submit soon but cannot continue.

    Much appreciated
