    Pastel Invoicing

    Hi all,

A company that I am helping processes all of their transactions via journals. No inventory or service items. The company would like to print invoices for customers but Pastel will only allow the printing of Statements for journal transactions. Is there a way to get Pastel to print invoices?
I have shown them how to print statements to PDF and then to convert the PDF to Word and change "Statement" to read "Invoice" but that is like going back and inventing the wheel!

I regret I can't answer your question (I don't use Pastel), but I'm fascinated with the cause of the problem.

Why don't they use the normal invoicing functionality?

    Hi Frank,

I'm also puzzled by what you've posted.

Customer invoicing is one of the key functions of Pastel!

To produce an invoice, you first need to create at least one customer account (even if it is a Cash Sales account). Then go to Process...Customers - the invoice capture screen will appear. Once you have captured the invoice, you can print it by clicking on the "Print Document" button at the bottom. You then need to update the invoice, or batch of invoices, which will then result in the customer's account being charged and then, when you run a customer statement, the invoices will appear.

Let me know if this helps...

    Thanks Neville,

i understand what you are saying but this company does not process via the invoicing method but via a journal. That is why they can only print statements however, I was told sometime ago by I cant remember who that one can make some kind of an adjustment within Pastel that allows for Invoicing regardless of if you go Process...Invoice or Process...Journal

If you find out what this "adjustment" is, then please let me know. I have never heard of anything like that.

Changing tack somewhat - why doesn't the company simply process invoices in the normal way, and be done with it?

One of the fairly common responses from software developers to bug report/feature requests is "feature works as designed".

In a situation as above it's a polite way to say "the problem isn't with our software, it's with your process".
But then software engineers aren't exactly known as mindless adherents to the "customer is always right" philosophy

Good question. This particular company is an estate agent and the transactions are for Body corporate clients not that this makes much difference. I asked them why they don't do as you mention - Invoicing but change is something that some people find difficult to do!
Thank you for the assistance and logic Neville, I will get back to you once I have the answer. Have a great day

If it's a volume issue, why doesn't the client just set up a recurring invoice batch and as Neville says 'be done with it

Have you managed to sort out the problem? I have the exact same issue.. I can print statements but not invoices or quotes.
I have tried everything, and asked everyone for help, but I haven't found any answers.
The weird thing is that the other users can print, but I, being connected through the network cant
