    Shocked,White and SICK

So i went to put my Newer Blackbird on my name today, nice and simple.
Turns out i owe the department of Transport R72 166.80

FOR A TRUCK I NEVER PURCHASED OR OWN.THE FORD TRUCK IS I ASSUME IN GAUTENG, KWP345GP.

Has anyone had a similar problem, how did they get my id number on the Natis system, i have purchased and sold
at least 5 vehicles in the last few years.
They say this is outstanding since 07/08/2003.

Ask them to produce the original paperwork.

Report it as stolen & see if you can sell it to pay them. If they find it they might get the fraudsters too.

I like it. No doubt when he was told about the R72 166.80 IMREG was shocked, turned white and became sick!!!!

We had a similar incident about 2 years ago, where suddenly the traffic department refused to issue licences due to there being outstanding fees on our account. We have licences renewed on a monthly basis, so this came as a shock to us - one month we get our licences no problem - next month they're denied, because we owe large amounts of money.

From what I can recall of the situation, the department were in the process of updating records going back for a number of years. In doing this, they supposedly picked up vehicles that were registered to us, but hadn't been paid for. Some of these vehicles may have been sold, and not properly de-registered from our side (but how were they then registered to the new owners??!!?) and thus we were liable for the licencing fees. Some of the vehicles were scrapped, and no longer in use; others were not used on public roads....it was quite a learning procedure.

Eventually we had it sorted out with them through de-registering all our old/scrapped vehicles.

So the question then is, did you own a Ford truck in August 2003? If it was sold/scrapped at this time, did you de-register it? Hope this helps.
